Get An IDP For Crossing Territories

When you pass your driving test and receive your license the new sense of freedom can be overwhelming. This freedom and sense of adventure is magnified when you first drive in across overseas. Whether it's a short road trip or a long distance journey across a whole continent, driving abroad gives you the opportunity to experience a new world in exclusive way.
An IDP helps to make your lifetime journey more easy and hassle free. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is proof that you possess a valid driver’s license in your home country, and it allows licensed drivers to drive in more than 150 countries without the need to complete further applications or testing. It can be used as an additional form of Identification.
An IDP does not replace a government issued driver license, but is its official translation. One must carry and show both documents when driving in another country. It’s accepted in countries that have signed the 1949 United Nations Convention on Road Traffic. The IDP does not hold any powers of its own apart from your drivers license. The IDP is valid only when carried in co-occurrence with and acts as a translation of a drivers license. If a person travelling in a foreign country and were to be stopped by a law enforcement officer, the driver license(issued in native country) and IDP should be presented to the officer. If a denunciation is issued to you, it will be reflected on the driving record that is with your drivers license. It can trigger exclusion under your travel insurance policy if claiming for loss caused while driving a motor vehicle overseas.
To apply for IDL a Driver must have Valid Driving License issued by Competent Authorities of his/her Home Country. He/she must be 18 years of age or above and there is no upper age limit for use of International Driving Document. It also needs standard passport style photographs. One can only get IDP in the country that issued your license and a Person should apply it for 3 months in prior to date of travel. It is valid for 12 months from date issued. An International Driving License is never valid in its country of issue. A person may be not able to legally drive in other countries without an IDP.
